Premier League giants Manchester City have released their new Puma away shirt honouring their “incredible legacy “as part of the club’s 2025/26 kit.
Familiar sponsors Etihad Airways feature prominently on the front of the all-black shirt, which takes inspiration from City’s first known kit in 1884.
Two-time Premier League top scorer Erling Haaland wore an overcoat while modelling the kit in a black and white promotional film released in July.
Man City kit 25/26: When will it be worn first?
City’s new away kit will first be used in a game away to Italian second-tier side Palermo at the Renzo Barbera Stadium on August 9 (20:00 BST).
“It’s fantastic to see Manchester City reference the earliest-known kit in the club’s history,” said football historian Dr Gary James.
“The black shirt design is a respectful nod to City’s early years, a significant symbol of the club’s origin story. It is fitting to see that legacy honoured through a modern interpretation that reminds us all how far we’ve come.”
City’s 2025/26 home kit debuted at the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup when they played Moroccan club Wydad in Philadelphia on June 18.
How to buy Manchester City 25/26 kit
The kit is available from City’s online shop and superstore. Authentic and replica versions are available, with the latter worn by the players and made with Puma’s Ultraweave fabric, which “reduces weight and friction for elite-level performance”.
Puma’s Marco Mueller said the “reimagining” of the historic kit had been a “special honour”. “Not many people would know that black was the original colour of the club,” he added.
“We love to celebrate the culture and identity of our clubs and what sets them apart. Being able to bring an all-black kit was exciting and gave us the opportunity to do something new with the away jersey.
“Another first is that this is the first time Puma has ever shot a campaign fully in black and white, which really ties in beautifully to the design of the kit.”
Long-sleeve and short-sleeve versions are available.
How much does the 25/26 Man City kit cost?
The women’s and men’s replica shirt is £85 or up to £107 with custom name and number printing. Authentic versions start at £130, up to £152 with printing.
Youth shirts range from £60 to £82 with printing. A baby kit is available for £50.
Adult shorts cost £40 and versions for children are priced at £30. Socks are £20.
City Football Group’s Nuria Tarre called the kit “a powerful tribute” with a “sleek, contemporary edge”. “Our fans have always had a deep appreciation for kits that honour the club’s history,” Tarre added.
“This kit does exactly that. It’s a bold expression of our identity that we hope will soon become a favourite among our passionate fanbase.”
