Liverpool today released their new home and away kits in collaboration with adidas.
The move from Nike back to the German brand was confirmed in March with supporters today having the chance to get their hands on the new merchandise.
The kits are traditional, in design and colour, and incorporate features specific to Liverpool.
The club website states: “The latest designs combine adidas’ cutting-edge performance technology with a deep respect for LFC’s heritage, reimagining what it means to wear the Liver bird.
“The home shirt features a clean all-red colourway, with crisp white adidas three stripes down the sleeves and a modern crew neck collar.
“Meanwhile, the away strip is a nod to classic LFC away shirts, featuring an off-white base with bold black and red detailing. The Liver bird is framed within a shield, a design inspired by the shape of Anfield’s Main Stand from 1906.
“On the reverse of both jerseys, the 97 emblem encased by the eternal flames sits proudly at the nape of the neck.”
The launch comes just under a month after the tragic death of Diogo Jota in a car crash in Spain.
And the club have put in place special measures for the fans to honour the memory of the former Portugal forward.
“If supporters would like to honour Diogo Jota by having ‘Diogo J. 20′ printed on the back of their shirts in official club stores or via our official online store, as well as adidas’ in-store locations or online store (where regionally offered), all profits will go to LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity. The Foundation has committed to creating a grassroots football programme in Diogo’s name,” Liverpool announced.
Ben Latty, chief commercial officer at LFC, said: “This is more than just the launch of a new kit – it marks the beginning of a 10-year relationship for LFC and adidas. Since announcing the partnership in March, there’s been a huge sense of anticipation and excitement. This first collection sets the tone for seasons to come.”
