Tottenham ‘lacked some energy’ as they were thrashed 4-0 by Bayern Munich in their latest pre-season friendly, admitted manager Thomas Frank.
Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot against his former club before goals from Kingsley Coman, 17-year-old Lennart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare rounded out a dominant win for the Bundesliga giants.
Spurs face Champions League winners Paris St-Germain next week and despite the heavy defeat Frank is not concerned.
He said: “We were obviously playing a very good team tonight. Bayern in my opinion are one of the teams that probably are favourites to win the Champions League, they hit a good level, we didn’t hit a good level, that’s a bad combination but we will definitely learn from this one.
“I definitely got some answers that we will look into but we will calmly reflect on it after the game now and look through it.
“Also it seems like we lacked some energy somehow which we need to find – no team can play without that energy.”
Tottenham are in the Super Cup after winning the Europa League next season and will face the sternest of tests against PSG before starting their first Premier League campaign under former Brentford boss Frank.
“We will 100 per cent be ready for that game, I’m not in doubt about that,” he added.
.”There are six days ahead, we have a normal week for the first time in the last two weeks so with everything – just getting down, less travel, energise them, three or four good sessions – then we will be ready against PSG.”
