Galatasaray have smashed the Turkish transfer record to complete the permanent signing of striker Victor Osimhen on a long-term deal from Napoli.
The Super Lig champions have agreed a deal with the Serie A club for €75 million (£65.36m) for the 26-year-old, breaking by some distance the previous Turkish record set by Fenerbahce, who acquired the services of Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla for €20 million last summer.
The Nigeria international, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and, with 37 goals, became the highest scoring foreign player in a single season in Turkey, has penned a four-year deal.
As part of the agreement, 10% of any future fee from Osimhen’s next transfer will be paid to Napoli, Galatasaray confirmed.
Unusually, the club also revealed exactly how much Osimhen will be paid. A statement on the club website read: “According to the agreement, the player will receive a net annual guaranteed salary of €15 million [£13m], a net loyalty bonus of €1 million [£860,000] per season, and €5 million [£4.3m] per season for image rights.”
Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu also claimed Osimhen had opted to sign for the club despite receiving offers “no other player would give up”.
Kavukcu told Turkish media on Friday: “We have never compromised our position, and we have shown our strength.
“Thank God, we have signed Victor without creating debt for the future. This is an incredible source of pride for us all. On the contrary, we have registered Victor’s contract as capital in Galatasaray’s coffers.
“Think about it: it’s hard to express just how much, but the amount Victor gave up to come here is truly enormous. He gave up a sum no other player would ever give up, and we are happy to have him.”
