Chelsea continued the task of trimming their bloated squad today with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Lesley Ugochukwu and Carney Chukwuemeka all set for permanent moves away from Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have been active once again in this window with Jorrel Hato’s arrival from Ajax their eighth signing of the summer, following on from Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Mamadou Sarr, Dario Essugo, Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez.
In a bid to balance the books, Chelsea are close to offloading Dewsbury-Hall, Ugochukwu and Chukwuemeka.
Dewsbury-Hall has agreed a deal with Everton, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The former Leicester City midfielder will cost the Toffees £25million up front with a further £4m in add-ons.
It concludes an underwhelming 13 months at Chelsea for the 26-year-old, who made just two starts in the Premier League but was a key figure in their Conference League success.
Burnley line up Ugochukwu capture
Ugochukwu made 15 appearances for Chelsea in the 2023-24 season after joining from Rennes before being sent out on loan to Southampton last term.
The France Under-23 international played 31 times for the Saints as they suffered relegation and is now set to link up with Burnley, who are seeking to bolster their midfield after losing Josh Brownhill on a free transfer.
Ugochukwu is set to sign a five-year contract at Turf Moor.
Chukwuemeka wants Dortmund return
He will follow Carney Chukwuemeka out of the exit door with the midfielder close to a return to Borussia Dortmund.
Chukwuemeka spent the second half of last season on loan at Signal Iduna Park, making 17 appearances in all competitions and was part of the squad that took part in the Club World Cup.
The 21-year-old is eager to make the move permanent and Chelsea won’t stand in his way.
It is believed RB Leipzig also enquired about Chukwuemeka but the player prefers a move to Dortmund.
