Detroit Lions’ Morice Norris confirmed he is ok and thanked fans for their support after the safety was taken to hospital after suffering a serious injury in an NFL preseason matchup with the Atlanta Falcons that caused the game to be suspended.
The incident occurred with 14:50 left in the fourth quarter at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, as Norris attempted to bring down Falcons rookie running back Nathan Carter.
The 24-year-old defender went to the turf and remained there while he was attended to by medical staff.
He was transported to Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
Detroit had a 17-10 lead at the time of the injury but Lions head coach Dan Campbell and Falcons head coach Raheem Morris mutually agreed to end the contest early.
The Lions later said in a post on social media that Norris was in stable condition and had “feeling and movement in all his extremities.”
Norris then shared a bible verse on his Instagram story, with the caption: “Amen, Amen. I’m all good man.
“Don’t stress it. Appreciate all the check-ins and love.”
The Lions continue resume their preseason schedule with the visit of the Miami Dolphins to Ford Field on 16 August.
