Former Valencia and Sevilla defender Adil Rami has launched a scathing attack on Lamine Yamal, insisting the Barcelona star can “go to hell”.
Yamal has had a busy summer, which has included signing a new six-year contract at Camp Nou and seeing his name on the front pages due to a reported relationship with an OnlyFans star 12 years his senior.
He was also widely criticised for hosting a lavish 18th birthday party that included hiring dwarves as entertainment.
And it’s his off-field behaviour that has riled Rami, who was a member of the France squad that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Yamal is a ‘crack’ on the field
Speaking on social media, he said: “I’ve had enough of seeing him for two months. I couldn’t care less if the fans at Camp Nou clap or jeer. I’m speaking the truth.
“In football terms, nothing to say. He is a crack and he will surely win Ballons d’Or, European Cups and everything you want.
“As for his behaviour, f*** him. Plain and simple.”
Rami’s irritation at the Spain international was triggered initially by the way he turned his head when shaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s hand after the Nations League final against Portugal.
It was widely seen as an act of disrespect towards the former Real Madrid and Manchester United man.
“I didn’t like the way he shook Cristiano Ronaldo’s hand in the Nations League final. It all started there,” explained Rami.
“He throws parties and they’re already buzzing around the town. Give me a break…
“He comes in, snatches the number 10 jersey, and drapes himself in flashy diamond-studded bling. He thinks he’s American.”
Yamal won’t change his behaviour
Yamal has brushed off his critics and insisted he has no intention of changing his lifestyle.
Asked about it last week, he said: “In the end I work for Barça, I play for Barça, but when I’m out of the Sports City I enjoy my life and that’s it.”
Yamal’s new deal, reportedly worth £325,000 a week, makes him the highest-paid teenager in world football and reflects his importance to Barca.
He emerged on the global scene during Euro 2024 with a string of impressive performances to help Spain win the trophy.
And he backed it up last season, growing into one of the most reliable players in the Barca squad as the club claimed a domestic double.
