All-Pro defensive lineman Zach Allen says he is “excited and blessed” to have signed a four-year deal worth $102 million with the Denver Broncos.
The deal for Allen, who joined the Broncos in 2023, includes $69.5 million guaranteed and makes the 27-year-old the second Denver player to sign a huge contract this week after wide receiver Courtland Sutton sealed a four-year, $92mdeal guaranteeing $41m.
“The work continues,” former Arizona Cardinals third-round draft pick Allen said on X, where he has fewer than 10,000 followers.
Zach Allen stats
Allen’s 8.5 sacks last season followed five in his first season at Denver and earned him second-team All-Pro selection.
His 15 tackles for loss and 40 quarterback hits were the best of his career, while he led all defensive linemen with 67 quarter-back pressures, according to Jordan Schultz.
In a player vote of the top 100 stars in the 2024 NFL, Allen came 90th and was described as “a key piece of the NFL’s top sack-getting defense”.
The NFL noted Allen’s particular success against double teams, generating 14 of his pressures against such opponents, putting him fifth in that respect.
Zach Allen contract
Allan was entering the final year of a three-year, $45.7m deal he signed in the 2023 off-season but is now the third-best paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL and averaging $25.5m.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones leads the way on $158.75m with an average of $31.75m, followed by the New England Patriots’ Milton Williams, on $104m with a $26m average.
Denver’s preparations for the new season continued in Englewood, Colorado on Friday, where the team replicated high-pressure late-game scenarios in training.
Having lost the Wild Card Playoffs after finishing third in the AFC West last time out, they start the new season at home to the Tennessee Titans on September 7 (16:05 ET / 13:05 PT / 21:05 BST).
